Dear Seven Locks Members,
We know that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to create uncertainty, including about the opening of the 2020 Seven Locks summer season. We are still hoping to have a full season and are monitoring the situation very closely. Our ultimate decision will be guided by the determinations made by local and state officials.
Since our last update, the board has moved ahead with critical repairs, inspections, and hiring for the summer season because postponing these important steps means running the risk of not being able to open the pool if and when it is deemed safe to do so. Most public outdoor pools are doing the same.
As Seven Locks members, we all have a financial obligation to cover the fixed costs of the pool each year. Those costs include insurance, loan payments, utilities, costs for our management company to de-winterize and maintain the pool even when it is not in use, inspection fees, and the initial delivery of pool chemicals needed to prime the system. We’ve already begun the process to open this year (see the photo below) — this is necessary to ensure we are able to open on time if we have the ability to based on government guidance.
In the event we are not able to open, or are able to open for only part of the summer, the board will refund a portion of each member’s due less these operating costs. Please know that the board is doing everything in its power to mitigate costs, including restructuring our contract with our management company. We also continue to welcome new members and to take dues payments from existing members.
All of these factors will impact the size of potential refunds. Again, we thank you for your patience as we work through this complex issue during continued uncertainty.
Regarding swim and dive season, we have delayed registration. We hope to start taking enrollment for the 2020 season on May 15. If you have questions about the 2020 season, please contact the team representatives at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support.
